Charles f. Kaus

December 1, 1940 - July 10, 2006

Charles F. Kaus, crossed over Monday, July 10, 2006 while at Hamot Medical Center following an extended illness.
He was born in Erie on December 1, 1940, son of the late Frank and Mary Kaus.

Chuck was a Service Representative for Pitney Bowes for 30 years, prior to his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Siebenbuerger Club, Gem City Gun Club and Walnut Creek Rifle Club; an avid outdoor man; and enjoyed hunting and participating in shooting events.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Clara Bennett Kaus; one son, Charles Kaus and wife Angela of Charlotte, N.C.; two daughters, Cathy Snyder of Erie and Connie Kaus at home; one brother, Richard Kaus of North East; five grandchildren, Russell, Keith, Bruce, Bryce and Kristen; three great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
There to meet him were his parents and his son, Christopher, his brother, Tom and his son-in-law Russell.

June 13th the Rev. Russell Van Antwerpen, of Hamot’s pastoral service conducted a beautiful service for family and friends. Amazing Grace played prior to the service. The reverend talked about the "Tent" which we all have now and the beautiful house that God provides for us. Chuck is in the house that God has for him and his family. He is at peace.

God saw you were getting tired,
And a cure was not to be .
So he put his arms around you
And whispered, "Come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched you,
And saw you pass away.
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
Hard working hands at rest,
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the best.

On Sunday, August 6, 2006 in Griswold Plaza the VNA of Erie sponsored a Butterfly Release.

A butterfly was released in Chuck's name.

As we gather for the Holidays please remember Chuck's family in your thoughts and prayers. The first Christmas is difficult because we can't see our loved one, but they are still a big part of our lives and want us to celebrate as if they were here.

March 26, 2007 Daughter Cathy joins you in heaven, now at peace and without pain you both watch over us until our time here is done. For us still here, know in our hearts that they still can see us and send their love.

July 10, 2007 One year has passed since Chuck left us. Although a day goes by that we don't remember him or think of something he did or said. What keeps us going is the knowledge that someday we will meet again.

July 10, 2008 I stopped by to see Clara and Connie before the 4th of July. She had some computer items of Chuck's and wanted to know if I wanted them. She may be moving to North Carolina with her son and cleaning things out. Just stopped by his site today to pay tribute.
